Quick Beauty Tricks for Moms
When it comes to fashion and beauty, a woman’s priorities change once she becomes a mom. It’s easy to put ourselves aside and tend to our little ones when we should be taking care of ourselves. In fact, it’s natural for a mom to put her child first. Until we get that schedule “just so” and until we can get used to this thing called motherhood, it’s quite common for new moms to throw on the same shirt as yesterday and walk out the door in the hair bun she just slept in. I’ve been there!
But once a mom gets into a good rhythm with feedings and sleep schedules, It’s important for her to take care of herself and do the little things that make her feel healthy, beautiful, and confident in herself.
Here’s a list of Quick Beauty Tricks for Moms – Perfect for women who are on the go, but still want to look and feel beautiful.
Quick Beauty Tricks for Moms
Use Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is great for so many reasons. Dry shampoo is great for preventing hair from becoming too dry, zapping excess oil and debris, keeping styled or curly hair intact, and prolonging a good wash and blowout an extra day or two.
Sleep in Braids
Wash hair, braid, sleep and wake up to a head of beautifully wavy hair! The perfect way to style hair without much effort at all! The great thing about hair that dries in braids is, once you let hair loose, those sexy waves created by the braids will last a few days!
Keep Bottles of Water for Yourself in the Nursery and the Play Room
Hydration is key, especially for moms. Always on the go, getting close to no sleep at all, and skipping meals takes a toll on a mom’s body and definitely takes a toll on her skin. Staying hydrated will keep your skin from drying out leaving it looking youthful, soft, and supple. Staying hydrated is also important for lactating moms. Lactating moms are at higher risk of dehydration. The extra fluid loss will leave you feeling extra tired, and run down and can even lead to terrible headaches. Leave water bottles in the nursery, master bedroom, and the playroom to stay hydrated during the busy day. It won’t hurt to leave a bottle or two in your car too!
Wear Neutral or Clear Nail Polish
It’s true some moms don’t wear nail polish at all. In a busy mom’s mind, nail polish is sometimes seen as a luxury and may take too much time to apply and dry. I recommend a “quick dry” formula for moms with very busy schedules. Keep nails filed to avoid splintering and chips and give a clear or neutral polish a try to protect nails from harsh weather, frequent dish soap & bottle washing, and hand soap and hand washing. A neutral or clear coat will also look a bit more “polished” (no pun intended;-)) and will make you feel a bit better about your hard-working hands.
Apply Tinted Moisturizer
Tinted moisturizer can work double duty for a busy mom. If there’s no time for makeup, especially foundation, apply a tinted moisturizer after cleansing. Not only will your skin be moisturized and hydrated but it will also look a little smoother with a touch of color. Tinted moisturizer smoothes out fine lines and hides blemishes and noticeable veins making your skin look flawless while on the go. Bonus tip: Use a tinted moisturizer with SPF and now it’s a triple threat. Your skin will not only look good and feel good but will also be protected from the sun’s harmful rays when heading to the park for that playdate!
