We Love FREE Family Friendly Events

The Michigan Science Center is a hands-on museum that inspires curious minds of all ages to discover, explore and appreciate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in a creative, dynamic learning environment. It’s a place we just love escaping to! The fun and hands-on experiences at the Michigan Science Center will give memories that will last your child’s lifetime. Who doesn’t love laughs, giggles and education? Mom and Dad can share the fun too and even you will remember your experience forever.

Now you can visit for free! In honor of Veterans Day, the Michigan Science Center (MiSci) invites curious minds of all ages, including all active-duty and retired military and their families, to enjoy free general admission on Friday, November 10th. Thanks to support from Ford Motor Company, MiSci is strengthening its ability to make STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) accessible to every adult and child. That same day, MiSci will be hosting a Veterans Recognition Ceremony in the Toyota Engineering Theater, which will include an awards presentation to highlight significant contributions of the Defense Services. Additionally, a number of organizations will have information tables geared specifically toward veteran’s education, services and benefits.

During your visit, here’s what else you can look forward to….Additionally, Nov. 10 is World Science Day for Peace and Development. Proclaimed by UNESCO, this internationally celebrated day highlights the importance of science in and for society, and this year’s theme is Science for Global Understanding. The Science Center features five theaters, including Michigan’s largest screen at the Chrysler IMAX® DomeTheatre; the Dassault Systèmes Planetarium; the Toyota Engineering 4D Theater; the DTE Energy Sparks Theater; the Chrysler Science Stage; a 9,800 square-foot Traveling Science Hall for special exhibits; hands-on exhibit galleries focusing on space, life and physical science; Kids Town just for pint-size scientists; along with, education and outreach programs.

General admission will include access to MiSci’s newest exhibit, 1001 Inventions: Untold Stories from a Golden Age of Innovation, as well as 250+ hands-on exhibits, Sparks Theater electricity shows, Kids Town, Spark!Lab by the Smithsonian, and more! To take advantage of MiSci’s free general admission on November 10, patrons must pre-register for tickets and select their estimated time of arrival here.

We hope to see you, Friday, November 10, 2017 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. (Veterans Recognition starts at 2 p.m.).  The Michigan Science Center is located at 5020 John R. St., Detroit, Michigan.
