Get Ready for a Double Dose of Fall Magic at Michigan Central Station
Get ready for a double dose of fall magic at Michigan Central Station! The iconic station at 2001 15th Street, Detroit, is opening its doors Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day for a weekend packed with free, family-friendly fun to celebrate both Halloween and Día de los Muertos, with no tickets required.
Grab your favorite costumes and head over early on Halloween—doors open at 10:00 AM for a cozy morning screening of Hocus Pocus inside the historic station hall. The sweet magic continues outdoors from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a Trunk-or-Treat, where kids can collect treats from a fleet of beautifully decorated vehicles. Inside, the grand hall transforms into a lively workshop from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, featuring hands-on monster mask making, games, and face painting hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit, capped off with a second afternoon showing of Hocus Pocus at 2:30 PM.
The festive spirit continues as the venue transitions into a colorful Día de los Muertos gathering centered around a community ofrenda created by Lana Rodriguez and Detroit VOCES. Families can admire the altar, leave memories, craft sugar skulls, and participate in a special portrait and oral history station. Don’t miss the vibrant live performance by the Ballet Folklórico de Wayne State University at 1:00 PM, plus dual screenings of Coco at 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM. Delicious food concessions will be open all afternoon, so you can snack while taking in the art and heritage.
