Detroit Youth Choir to Perform Songs from “The Color Purple” at Emagine Royal Oak

Free Concert Experience for the Highly Anticipated Movie Release

The Detroit Youth Choir, a group of talented boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18, will be performing songs from the highly anticipated new movie, THE COLOR PURPLE, along with some of their holiday classics, at Emagine Royal Oak on Sunday, December 17 at 1:30 pm. This performance will take place in lobby of the theatre and is free and open to the public.

The Detroit Youth Choir will be embracing this movie and will be providing some early excitement for the much anticipate opening. THE COLOR PURPLE opens in theatres on December 25th and is a bold new take on the beloved classic that is directed by Blitz Bazawule and produced by Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders. and Quincy Jones.  It stars Taraji P. Henson, Danielle Brooks, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, and Halle Bailey. 

The Detroit Youth Choir will provide a free concert experience to guests from 1:30pm-2:00pm on December 17th, and will be singing songs like, “The Color Purple”, “I Say Our Prayer” and “Big Dog”, just to name a few.

The Detroit Youth Choir and Performing Arts Company serves young people throughout metro Detroit. The Detroit Youth Choir teaches and develops students through music education, dance, and theatrical arts offering them a world-class performing arts experience that develops their creative skills and talents. The program, which is designed for youth between the ages of 8 and 18 years old, has given these youth the chance to perform around metro Detroit, nationally, and internationally.
