Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams Holiday Tradition for Pediatric Patients Returns to Corewell Health’s Beaumont Royal Oak Hospital
Join us for Michigan Moonbeams Night on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
Beaumont Children’s in Royal Oak invites community members from across Michigan to participate in the cherished tradition, Moonbeams for Sweet Dreams. On Wednesday, December 13th, Children’s Miracle Network will be hosting a special night where CMN hospitals, including Beaumont Children’s in Royal Oak and Helen DeVos Children’s in Grand Rapids, will be jointly embracing this as “Michigan Moonbeams Night”.
Started in 2017 by the suggestion of the Beaumont Children’s Pediatric Family Advisory Council, and the Child Life Program, this program that is funded through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) and has become a holiday tradition. The community is invited to support pediatric patients and their families who find themselves in the hospital during the winter holidays.
Each night through December 23, at 8 p.m. sharp for 10 minutes, friends and neighbors of all ages are encouraged to bring flashlights which will show their support by shining beams of light up to the windows of the pediatric unit. Pediatric patients return this festive glow with flashlights of their own. This event was conceived to raise the spirits of children who might feel isolated and by the shining lights, help wish them sweet dreams.
Karen Newman, professional singer, local celebrity, and voice of The Detroit Red Wings for over 35 years, has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) and will be in attendance on Dec 13, along with several Miracle families to help light up the night for the pediatric patients. In addition, there will be a special performance by Detroit Country Day’s Youth Choir.
For those that would like to provide additional support, monetary donations can be made at www.Beaumont.org/Miracles. In addition, themed Glow In the Dark blankets along with plush toys are available for $20 each, which then will be donated to a pediatric patient by simply noting “Moonbeams” in the notes section on the donation page for this option.
A performance by Detroit Country Day Youth Choir will by 7:30pm – 7:50pm. Event and Moonbeams lighting to follow performance. Attendees are asked to arrive by 7:30 p.m. to leave time for parking, and carpooling is recommended.
