The Tender Turtle 5K is an event to be held in Lake Orion on October 20, 2018 from 9am-noon, to celebrate the relaunching of The Tender Turtle Series. Local author, Amy Silvester is soon to release her latest book titled “Paulie”, which is about a special needs child who uses ASL to communicate. This tender story teaches children that even though we have differences, we really are all the same. Inclusivity is the main message of the story.
The race is only part of the special, all inclusive event. The event is Halloween themed for families to enjoy and there will be many great activities for all ages. Sponsors have joined the cause to ensure the day is fun for all. We will have a bounce house, sensory station, pumpkin patch, music, a clown, apples, donuts, cider, and so much more! Even Cha! Cha! from The Rainforest Café will be there!
Want to join? The event has a special family rate of just $30! Do you have a high schooler? This is a great opportunity for community service hours for high schoolers too! The Daisy project continues to do so many wonderful things for our community and proceeds raised will go straight to the charity; which, in turn will go back to our community, at Camp Agawam in Lake Orion.
