Theater Shows, Movies and Fun Holiday Events
It’s the holiday season and Michigan has a long list of exclusive events and fun opportunities to take advantage of. Funny holiday movies, plays, gala events and fun day trips are all on our cheery list this year. Here’s a few of our favorite holiday events you don’t want to miss this season!
1. A Bad Mom’s Christmas In Theaters November 3, 2017
I’m sure you remember the first “Bad Moms” about three mothers — played by Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn — who are sick of trying to be perfect and feel inferior to the school’s PTA and it’s leaders. But after the trio form a friendship, they relish in their “bad” behaviors and parenting skills, learning to embrace their imperfections and negative opinions.
Well, these “Bad Moms” are at it again with the sequel, “A Bad Moms Christmas,”. This movie has three extra characters aka “bad grandmothers” – Susan Sarandon, Cheryl Hines and Christine Baranski — who arrive in town just in time to judge their daughters’ parenting over the holidays. Sound normal right? Hardly! Watch the trailer and see just how crazy fun this movie is going to be!
2. Daddy’s Home 2 In Theaters Nov 22, 17
In the sequel to the 2015 global smash, father and stepfather, Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell) have joined forces to provide their kids with the perfect Christmas. Their newfound partnership is put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho Dad (Mel Gibson) and Brad’s ultra-affectionate and emotional Dad (John Lithgow) arrive just in time to throw the holiday into complete chaos.
The movie comes out November but you can win tickets! Join Week99er and Detroit Mommies for a Mom’s Night Out at MJR Troy at 7pm on November 7th? 3. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical – Nov 17 – 19, 2017
Olympia Entertainment presents Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas at the Fox Theatre! The Musical will begin Friday, November 17 through Sunday, November 19; part of the Fifth Third Bank Fox Theatre Series.
The Grinch broke box office records for two consecutive years on Broadway during its holiday engagements at the St. James and Hilton theaters in New York. Since then, more than 1.8 million theater-goers across the country have been delighted by this heart warming family-friendly holiday musical fun for all ages!
The classic Dr. Seuss’ holiday tale will come to life live on stage with fun, laughter, and heart warming lessons. Featuring the hit songs “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas,” THE GRINCH discovers there’s more to Christmas than he bargained for. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming GRINCH, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the holiday-loving Whos. Will you and the Whos eventually love and accept him? We shall see!
Tickets to Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical at the Fox Theatre available here.
4. Hob Nobble Gobble Presented by Ford, Nov 17, 2017
A beautiful event that entails a red carpet, local celebrities, carnival rides and bumper cars, The Parade Company’s Hob Nobble Gobble presented by Ford will be the talk of the town this holiday season. 5. A Christmas Carol Nov 10 – Dec 24, 2017
Playing at Meadow Brook Theater at Oakland University, A Christmas Carol is a holiday classic the entire family will enjoy. Ebenzer Scrooge doesn’t see the point of letting his employees have a day off for Christmas. He won’t even give an exception to his employee Bob Cratchit, who’s son Tiny Tim is very sick. Once he meets the gentle Ghost of Christmas Past, the jolly Ghost of Christmas Present and the terrifying Ghost of Christmas to Come, all of whom want to teach him a lesson, he just might change his mind.
