Recently, one of my besties and I were invited to the brand new AR (Anders Ruff) Workshop located in downtown Northville. Owners Jen Amin and Jen Perino are the DIY Dream Team whose passion for home decor, design and socializing led them to open a branch of AR Workshop in downtown Northville. The AR (Anders Ruff) Workshop offers a wide range of DIY projects on various mediums that are stylish and classic while being on-trend. These unique projects can be created for men, women, and children. Some of their projects include canvases, wood framed signs, wood planked signs, metal projects, and chalkboard projects. More projects can be seen in the picture below. You can see the adorable wood planked sign my friend Wendy and I created above!
Honestly, I have never built anything like this before. Normally my husband completes any type of ‘projects’ around our house, so I was a bit nervous. When we arrived the ladies greeted with a smile, and had everything prepared for us. Furthermore, they worked with us each step of the way, explaining steps to us, and allowing us to take our time to choose the colors to make our signs perfect. I will explain a few steps, so our readers can have a better understanding of just how simple this was, thanks to these awesome ladies!!
STEP 1: Our boards were set out around numerous supplies and we began to sand the boards and create a distressed look
STEP 2: We stained the boards and placed our custom-made decals on the boards.
STEP 3: We dabbed the paint that we chose and after it dried, peeled the decal off. After, the ladies helped to make our signs just right by scrapping extra paint and adding hooks.
Overall, we both had a VERY good time! These types of workshops would be a blast with a significant other, your best friend, a bachelorette party, birthday party, work gathering, and so on. Please keep in mind, you do not need any experience to create any of these projects. The ladies are extremely helpful and prepared.
