On behalf of the “A Day Made Better” cause for teachers, you can nominate your favorite teacher to win a gift card to OfficeMax for school supplies!
Teachers are really incredible! They touch so many lives every day and open the doors to opportunity in every way, shape and form.
With school budgets cuts, teachers are taking matters into their own hands by purchasing their own classroom materials. According to the National Education Association, teachers are spending about $1,000 each year on supplies for their class, which is pretty astonishing. Can you imagine if your job asked you to bring your own tape, scissors, and paper? There would be a backlash, but somehow, teachers have silently picked up the tab…until now.
That’s why I’ve joined the Max Moms for Teachers program to help create awareness and give back to teachers. The Max Moms are working in collaboration with the national “A Day Made Better” cause founded by OfficeMax and nonprofit Adopt-A-Classroom to help erase teacher-funded classrooms. Annually in October, they host a national event that recognizes and rewards over 1,000 teachers with a total of $1 million in school supplies to help alleviate the financial burden and thank them for their hard work.
You too can join in this cause and give back to a deserving teacher by nominating your favorite teacher to receive a $50 gift card for school supplies donated by OfficeMax. You’ll also receive an A Day Made Better cause box, and we encourage you to purchase supplies for your favorite teacher and surprise him or her in her classroom.

My youngest daughter is in first grade and we were so happy when she got the same teacher her big sister had. Mrs. T truly loves teaching and she loves kids. This year our school has a new math curriculum and one part is to do flash cards at home. She went to the store and bought flash cards for each child. I let her know that we would buy our own flashcards but I think we were the only ones. My daughter loves Mrs T so much she even went to school sick just to be with her teacher ( she lasted an hour before the nurse called for me to pick her up.) Everyday my child is so excited to go to school and after school she is so excited about all of the things she has learned that day. I am amazed everyday how much mrs T does and with bigger class sizes too. This year 5 kids were added to her class at the beginning of the school year and the class was already full. I know Mrs T is always buying things for class out of her own pocket, I would love to be able to present the officeMax gift card especially as there is one right near the school 🙂
I give teachers a huge amount of credit for their patients with our children and of course sometimes the parents. We had “meet the teacher” and Mrs. C was excited about the upcoming school year and telling us what our children would be learning and how the kids would be spending their days at school. Teachers not only give their time and knowledge but sometimes have to reach in their own pockets to keep the projects moving along. This give away would benifit all the kids in the classroom. Thanks for the opportunity!
Hi, I’m a student. I had this amazing teacher last year. He’s truly the best teacher I’ve ever had. His name is Andrew Wright, and he used to teach at Creative Montessori Academy and now he teaches somewhere in Detroit. I’ve never learned so much from one teacher. He taught 8th grade history, a subject that I had always hated, and he actually made it interesting! Thanks to him history is now my favorite subject! He also helped me out a lot in math, and I hate math. Thanks to him, I’m doing awesome in high school. I owe a lot to Mr.Wright, and so does everyone else who’s had the honor of being taught by him.
My son’s teacher is so great about communication with parents. We’ve already had 2 parent-teacher conferences and she emails me at least a couple of times a week about my son’s progress. She seems very invested in my son’s scholastic success.
I think Kathi Pryor is an excellent teacher from creative Montessori academy in Southgate Michigan. She so enjoys her kids and loves to take out of her weekends to spend watching the different activities the children enjoy. Kathi is a lovely hardworking teacher who has been a blessing to my children.
There are 2 teachers at my sons school that are both equally deserving of enormous praise for there dedication to their students and their amazing patience. They both work hard to ensure that EACH AND EVERY STUDENT knows they are important to them. The first teacher is Ms. King. She’s my son’s 5th grade teacher. She teaches a 4th,5th,6th split grade class and manages it seemlessly. She is patient, caring, intelligent, fair and funny. She keeps the kids all egaged and interested in everything they do. She has learned to take the ordinary and make it extrodinary. A perfect example is book reports. Each month she comes up with a new “type” of book report. So far my son has created a board game, a scroll and a brochure as his book report. Its gotten the whole family involved. The second teacher is Ms. Gardocki. She’s the phys ed teacher at my son’s school. I’ve never seen a teacher show more excitement and enthusiasm from her first class of the day to her last. She goes so far above and beyond for each student it is truely awe inspiring. She arrives early and stays late. She gives all of her free time to help coach after school programs. She truely puts her heart and soul into everything she does. She has inspired our kids to play to the best of their abilities and has taken what was once a mundane required class and turned it into a class that is looked forward to. She has inspired a healthy enviroment at the school. Both of these woman are amazing. Both go out of their way to research new, inventive and fun ways to teach their students. Both of these women give everything they have to there students and school. They are amazing and truely deserve this award. Thanks for considering them both
My son’s fifth grade teacher is amazing. She has taken my son under her wings. She is strict but stresses to the kids that homework is important each and every day. She is teaching the children the importance of learning.
My children have been very fortunate to have some fantastic teachers so far in their schooling. One teacher in particular, Mrs. M., has had a profound effect on my son, with her constant encouragement, belief in her students, and truly caring attitude. She has made school an enjoyable place he looks forward to attending! It makes me feel great knowing that my son is in such great hands.
From my 8 year old – I am in 3rd grade. My teacher is nice, beautiful and really creative. She comes up with new work choices every day. She’s really nice. Best of all, she’s a great teacher.
My daughters Kindergarten teacher is the most caring teacher I have ever met. She goes out of her way to make each and every student in her class feel special and important. I cannot express enough how much she would appreciate this gift if she is chosen. I wish my daughter could take her to each and every grade with her as she goes on. She is also a new teacher as this is her second year as a K teacher and she is already touching children’s lives more than she knows. Thank you so much for considering her!

My daughter’s Kindergarten teacher is amazing. She is so dedicated and truly passionate about the children and their families, the second day of school she not only knew my child in her class but her 2 younger siblings names as well making them feel special each day as we drop off and pick up. She is always doing creative projects with the kids. I receive weekly sometimes daily emails and updates and she even comes to the kids soccer games. Her budget is very tight and I know she would do great things for the kids with $50 extra dollars.
