As the calendar marches toward summer, music fans can anticipate warm summer evenings spent wrapped in serenade by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and its guest artists during Summer Nights at Meadow Brook Music Festival on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester Hills. Beginning on Saturday, July 25 at 8 p.m., DSO Music Director Leonard Slatkin will kick off the series with a Tchaikovsky Spectacular concert featuring violinist Karen Gomyo and will follow with Gershwin Galore featuring pianist Jeffrey Siegel on Sunday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m. The following weekend beginning Friday, July 31 at 8 p.m., DSO Resident Conductor
Tchaikovsky Spectacular includes the ballet Swan Lake Suite, Violin Concerto and 1812 Overture along with Capriccio Italien, a piece inspired by a trip Tchaikovsky took to Rome. The ever-favorite Violin Concerto features solo artist and violinist Karen Gomyo.
