So, I was given the fun opportunity to review the CD of a new band called the Ballas Hough Band. I was pretty excited to do this because I really like to rock out in the car on the way to take my daughter to school, so I welcomed the opportunity with open arms. I consider this time with the music pumping, “me time” because I don’t get much of that in edgewise!
The Ballas Hough Band has five members, two of which are dancers on Dancing With the Stars! Mark Ballas was the winner on season 6 with Olympian Kristi Yamaguchi and Derek Hough won season 7 with Brook Burke.
With music not far from their minds, Derek and Mark got together to write songs for their album and rented out space in Hollywood’s SIR studios to rehearse. Most of the songs on their album were written by them and songs like “Fall” and “Devasted,” are pop songs that recount worldly lives that left a trail of broken hearts.
Their first single, “Do It For You” was co-written by the new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. It’s a fun pop song that you want to sing along to with a grin on your face and a bop of your head.
The entire Ballas Hough Band CD was great and would make a great gift for that next birthday you are going to or fit nicely in an Easter basket!
