Have You Ever Had Just a Darn Good Brownie?

 
It’s true, my family is pretty simple when it comes to desserts (thank goodness).  They don’t demand a perfect cheesecake, nor do they expect crème brûlée for their after dinner dessert.  Simple desserts are sure to win their hearts such as ice cream sundaes, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, and their favorite, which of course, is a darn good brownie! Brownie’s always win in my home.  A plain brownie, a brownie with chocolate frosting, a brownie with chocolate chips, a brownie with chocolate syrup (getting hungry yet?) or even a brownie topped with vanilla ice cream!  Now we’re talking!
 
Here’s a simple and yummy brownie recipe your family will love too!  Who doesn’t love a simple yet perfect brownie?
 

Darn Good Brownies 

Prep time – 20 minutes
Cook time – 30 minutes
Total time – 50 minutes
Servings – 24 brownies
 

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder dutch-processed
  • 4 oz  semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten 
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • chocolate syrup

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and lightly flour 11 x 7 pan to prepare. In small saucepan, heat ⅔ cup water. When water begins to boil, add cocoa powder, and semisweet chocolate.  Immediately remove from heat and stir until mixture is smooth. Next, melt butter on 15 second increments, stirring in between to evenly distribute the heat until it’s completely melted then stir in sugar and vanilla. Now, stir in chocolate mixture and eggs until completely combined. Sprinkle salt over batter and stir in. Next, gradually stir in flour until completely mixed.
 
Finally, spread batter into the pan you prepared earlier and bake on 350F for 30-35 minutes. I usually like to use a toothpick to check to see if they are done.  Do this by inserting a toothpick into the center of the pan. If it comes out with unbaked “wet” batter return it to the oven and continue to check every five minutes. When the brownies are completely done, the toothpick will be slightly fudgy with consistency. 
 
Let cool.  Cut into Squares. Drizzle with chocolate syrup. Serve. Enjoy!
