2021 Woodward Dream Cruise
If you’re from Metro Detroit, then you’ve heard of the Woodward Dream Cruise. But do you actually know how the cruise came about? The Woodward Dream Cruise was originally a fundraising event created by Nelson House and a small group of local volunteers to raise money for a soccer field.
The fun idea to recreate the times of the 50s and 60s on Woodward Avenue was liked by thousands of people eager to participate. Needless to say, the event was a success and has grown bigger and bigger each year since the start back in 1995.
Today, more than 1.4 million people attend the infamous Michigan cruise. Over 40,000 classic and new cars cruise Woodward each year. Many out-of-state guests have been known to ship or drive in their classic vehicles to town days prior to the event. And, cruise-goers aren’t just from Michigan. Cruise guests have been known to visit from Hawaii, California, New Jersey, Canada, Japan, Arizona, New York, and New Zealand.
Rain or shine, the annual cruise is always a good time. Are you going this year? The 2021 Woodward Dream Cruise is Aug 21, 2021. It takes place each year on the third Saturday in August and runs between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
