Essential Tools for DIY Projects and What To Try

If there’s something around the house that needs fixing or if you’re in desperate need of a creative outlet, DIY projects can help. Sometimes it can seem like you’ll need expensive equipment to accomplish anything, but that’s not the case. Here are some of the essential tools for DIY projects and what to try with them.

Screwdriver

Coming in a variety of different heads, lengths, and applications, a screwdriver is one of the most essential tools for DIY projects. Screwdrivers are so ubiquitous that you can purchase kits with an assortment of detachable heads for cheap. You can use these for almost anything—from putting together furniture to replacing handles and doorknobs.

They are also great for just using around the home; you’d be surprised how often you just need to tighten something for it to start working right again.

Staple Gun

Whether it is a regular office stapler or an actual staple gun, there are several different projects you can try. A stapler is a quick and easy way of connecting two pieces together. You can use them during arts and crafts projects with your children, having them staple pieces of colored cardboard paper together to make colorful shapes, patterns, and designs.

For more serious use, staple guns are also great tools when reupholstering old furniture or adding insulation. Different projects will require different kinds of staplers, so make sure you have the best one for the job.

Tape Measure

Measure twice, cut once. Whether you’re taking measurements to fit a piece of clothing or need to find the dimensions of a cabinet or curtains, you always need accuracy. If you end up eye-balling a measurement, then your project will quickly fall apart.

Too many assumptions will lead to too many inaccuracies, and whatever you’re working on will be unstable in its construction and off-kilter in its design.

Some of these tools you most likely have just lying around the house. But even if you don’t, you can easily find affordable options to start your DIY kit.
