Summertime Banana Splits with M&M’s®
This is such a busy time of year, with all kinds of parties and celebrations going on. I came up with this easy summertime ice cream treat that uses one of our favorite candies – plain M&M’s. We call it our Funana Split! It is super easy to make, looks fun and tastes delicious. There isn’t any need for a lot of syrups or toppings, all you really need is the M&M’s. You could play around with it and use your favorite kind of M&M’s and favorite flavors of ice cream. Plus – all the ingredients are easy to keep on hand for spur of the moment treats.
There are so many different decorating ideas – flowers, school colors, bugs, zig-zag or stripes. You could use red and blue M&M’s for the Fourth of July. If you’re in a hurry you could just sprinkle them on top. This would be the perfect way to end a meal the next time you grill.
Ingredients:
- Your favorite ice cream flavors
- Plain M&M’s
- Bananas
- Strawberries
- Whipped Cream
- Optional Toppings – pineapple, nuts or syrup.
Directions
Cut the banana in half and put in the bowl
- Scoop 3 big scoops of your favorite ice cream and place in between the two slices of banana.
- Press the M&M’s into the ice cream ball
- Add the Strawberries and whipped cream
- Add extra toppings
- Eat with delight
We stopped at Walmart to pick up our Funana Split ingredients including the 42-ounce bag of Plain M&M’s in the zipper bag and also ended up grabbing a few more items that will be great to have on hand over the summer. The SNICKERS® Ice Cream Bars didn’t last more than a few days in the freezer. I grabbed a big bag of Peanut M&M’s®, Lifesavers® and Skittles® to rounding out our purchase.
When was the last time you made a homemade banana split?
