14th Annual Hamburg Family Fun Fest is Set for June 12 – 15, 2019
Livingston County’s finest four-day FREE festival, the Hamburg Family Fun Fest – now in its 14th year, will be held Wednesday, June 12th thru Saturday, June 15th, 2019.
All new is a thrill of a lifetime experience when festival attendees can feel, in virtual reality 4D, what it’s like to fly, soar through the sky with the birds, run with the dinosaurs or race for survival on a hoverboard through a post-apocalyptic city. Levels range from basic, exciting to extreme. The 4D Emotion Matrix offers fifteen different programs in a virtual reality 360 experience that includes a motion platform and sensory/emotion enhancements. Your goal – to stay alive and get to the finish line first!
For the dog lover in all of us, Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix is bringing his slapstick comedy act that stars mostly dogs rescued from shelters or pounds. Johnny leads over a dozen dogs through challenging and hilarious tricks in a show that is fun for the whole family. A Ringling Brothers Clown College graduate, Johnny Peers has been working with dogs since he got his first puppy from the Humane Society. The Muttville Comix have appeared on national television including David Letterman, Primetime Live, Circus of the Stars, and on stage at Disneyland, Busch Gardens, and The White House.
The Hamburg Family Fun Fest also will welcome, Chachi “The Rocketman” Valenica, who is known as the Human Cannonball shot from a cannon – free flying through the air at speeds of (55mph), heights of over (65 ft), and distances of (165ft). He lands in a narrow net, set (20ft) off of the ground and rocks the crowds whenever he hits his target at the center and takes off his helmet in a heartfelt victory salute. All free shows are made possible by the Hamburg Enhanced Recreation Organization (H.E.R.O.) which is a 501c3 non-profit corporation which sponsors and operates the Hamburg Family Fun Fest.
There’s something for all ages from the Lil’ Hero play area for toddlers only, to a classic car show, Wade Amusement rides, (wristbands can be purchased,) a laser light show, petting zoo, fireworks and more.
Since the festival’s inception in 2006, over $200,000 has been put back into the community, including a defibrillator that was purchased for the Hamburg Township Fire Department that has already saved a woman’s life. Other beneficiaries around the community have included playground upgrades and maintenance at Bennett Park, a donation to the Serenity Garden at the Hamburg Township Library, construction of a runway at Bennett Park to assist the Hamburg R/C Flyers and funding of the Explorers program through the Hamburg Township Police Department.
It is also a source of pride that the festival is made 100% possible by community volunteers who are lead by H.E.R.O. – the Hamburg Enhanced Recreation Organization and their Board of Directors.
Admission is free with the exception of the Wade Amusement rides. Parking is $5 per carload.
