Jessica Starr Will Forever Be in Our Hearts
It is with a very sad heart I must share, we have lost one of Detroit’s most beautiful of mommies, Jessica Starr. Starr was a meteorologist for local news station, Fox 2 News, who started back in 2012. She was also a Michigan native with two meteorology degrees from Michigan State University and Mississippi State University, a wife, mother of two and a friend to so many.
Starr was funny, beautiful and full of life during her segments. She lit up our living rooms every day with her beauty, bright blonde hair and contagious smile. So many Detroit Mommies related to her as we watched her experience pregnancy and motherhood. Each stage was a blessing and we enjoyed watching her go through what we’ve been through with ease and grace. We also had the opportunity of seeing her during special segments like Fox 2’s Wine Wednesday (one we all enjoyed) and during her community visits at special events and charitable functions. She was a bright light that cared about our community.
Fox 2’s website made the announcement with this heartfelt quote:
“Last night we were informed of the heartbreaking news that our friend and colleague, meteorologist Jessica Starr took her life. All of us here at FOX 2 are in deep shock and cannot believe that such a wonderful, bright and intelligent individual will no longer be with us. Her family and friends will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days as we all deal with our grief.”
Fox 2 Detroit, local anchors & friends as well as competitive news channels all turned to social media to praise the woman she was and to support one another during this tragic and shocking time.
Starr recently took time off from work as she recovered from laser eye surgery — a procedure which seemed to necessitate a longer healing time than she expected. During a Facebook Live video on Nov. 13th, she thanked her fans for their support during her recovery and expressed that is was her 1st day back. The very next day, she then posted online that she had needed more time to recover. That was her last post.
Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to Starr’s family and friends and we are also praying for the entire Fox 2 family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as well. Detroit has lost a special person, and we are all feeling the sadness deeply.
