Let’s Celebrate a Child Today!
Have you ever wondered who those people are that help local children in need and make their dreams come true? The KIDSgala group here in Michigan are those special people and I can’t wait to share the story of how they got started.
In 2009, Emerald City Designs business owner, David C. McKnight re-connected with a high school classmate named Shelly Lang Burton from Lake Orion, Michigan. At that time, David learned about her daughter Nicole Marie Burton, who was diagnosed with Leukemia.
Saddened to hear that this little girl and her family were suffering, he thought of the generous idea celebrations for children who are battling life challenging events. His purpose was to bring hope and smiles to these children and their families. Nicole Burton was David’s inspiration to start KIDSgala and in her name, the plans of the first celebration began.
On October 23, 2013 Nicole Burton experienced a relapse and unfortunately, the KIDSgala event that was being thoughtfully and carefully planned out, ended up being a memorial luncheon for little Nicole Marie Burton.
Since then, David C. McKnight, President and the Board of Directors of KIDSgala have raised thousands of dollars with fundraising events and has created numerous celebrations for local Michigan children. In 2014, KIDSgala started gifting “celebration of life” parties to children. This is only possible through the help of generous sponsors, community donations, and thoughtful volunteers.
How can you help you ask? Donations and sponsors are always welcome. Click here to learn more about those opportunities.
Another opportunity to help is to celebrate with the KIDSgala team and fellow sponsors! Purchase a ticket and attend their Annual White Party. Their 5th annual White Party is to be held June 16, 2018, at The Henry Hotel, Autograph Collection in Dearborn, Michigan. This is a wonderful opportunity to show your support and to have a date night with your significant other or you can plan a girl’s night out with your best girlfriends! All you have to do is wear your best white dress and show up ready to support! Click here to purchase your ticket and to learn more.
