Fairlane Town Center (FTC), located in Dearborn, MI, welcomes local deaf and hard-of-hearing children to be the first to experience the signing picture-in-picture feature on a movie release. From 10 a.m. – noon on Dec. 6, FTC will host a private event for more than 100 students (K-5th grade) and staff from the Ralph J. Bunche Academy in Detroit and the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint. The kids will have an opportunity to walk through the multi-sensory Ice Palace, share their holiday wishes during a personal visit with Signing Santa, receive a photo with Santa and a special ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT gift.
Detroit’s own deaf hip-hop artist Sean Forbes will sing and sign holiday songs to the children and serve as emcee.

*Following this private event, Signing Santa will be open to all shoppers, both hearing and deaf/hard-of-hearing, until 8 p.m. At FTC. Great Lakes Crossing Outlets and Twelve Oaks Mall also will be hosting a public Signing Santa Day for shoppers from 10a.m. – 9 p.m. on Dec. 6

In partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, this holiday season the center’s spectacular Ice Palace will feature footage from ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT, debuting Dec. 11 on DVD and Blu ray™. Fairlane Town Center is hosting Signing Santa Day in celebration of the Blu-ray featuring sign-language interpretation – a first for a feature film – by deaf actors Sean Berdy, star of ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth,” and stage and film actress Amber Zion.
