The Oakland County Fair at Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg has been extended to 10 days, beginning 4 p.m. on July 6 through 9 p.m. on July 15.
During this 10-day event, there will be a midway with carnival rides, free circus, Oakland County Idol contest and exhibits ranging from aerospace to woodworking. Visitors can stroll through many barns to see horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, poultry, dogs, cats, rabbits and even newborn animals in the Miracle of Birth Barn, a fairgoer favorite.
There will be a large variety of favorite fair foods and space for families to pack a picnic and eat in the comfort of an activity pavilion.
“The Oakland County Fair has become a highly anticipated event, attracting people from across metro Detroit, as well as throughout the state,” Oakland County Parks and Recreation Executive Officer Dan Stencil said. “Oakland County and Parks and Recreation is very excited to be a presenting sponsor of the fair this year.”
The fair starts Friday, July 6 with grand opening at 4 p.m. Carnival goers will be able to buy $10 arm bands valid from 4-11 p.m. A fireworks display at dusk will help kick off the extended days with a bang. Entry after 5 p.m. is free with a 2012 Oakland County Parks and Recreation annual vehicle permit.
Armed Forces Day on Saturday, July 7 will honor military personnel (proper identification required) with free admission to the fair grounds and Figure 8 races that night.
Monday, July 9 is Senior Day with free admission to seniors ages 62 and over from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Wednesday, July 11 is Kids Day with special activities planned for youth.
Thursday, July 12 is Oakland County Parks and Recreation Day and Special Needs Day. Children with special needs can enjoy a free circus show and free carnival rides from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Oakland County Parks and Recreation will host mobile recreation units to be used free-of-charge. Fair entry is free this day with a 2012 Oakland County Parks and Recreation annual vehicle permit.
Sunday, July 15 is Family Fun Day. Present a parking mirror tag a previous visit to the fair and get in free all day.
Other special events include a championship figure eight race, off road demo, rodeo, Michigan Pocket Pullers demonstration, Michigan Monster Truck Shootout and the Oakland County Fair Idol contest.
Fair parking is $10/car or $5/person/walk in visitors. Grandstand Event passes which allow entrance to all the nightly grandstand events is available for $20/person. Tickets and armbands for the carnival rides and admission to nightly Grandstand Events are available for an additional cost.
