As summer comes to a close, Pewabic Pottery invites the public to come and enjoy two annual end-of-summer events:
4th Annual Family Fun Day Aug. 23
Pewabic invites visitors to come and play with clay from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the 4th Annual Family Fun Day on Tuesday, Aug. 23. The day of artistic adventure will include free clay games such as go-fish for ceramic goldfish, clay target practice and the building of a clay community.
For $5, guests can get their hands dirty with a variety of “Make-and-Take” activities including stringing ceramic beads, painting flower pots and decorating ceramic bells to ring in the school year.
Pewabic artists also will be demonstrating the magic of clay wheel throwing, and giving free tours of the pottery at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
No registration is required for Family Fun Day, however, groups of 10 or more are asked to call (313) 626-2000 in advance. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Annual Members Only Summer Sale Aug. 20
Pewabic’s Annual Members Only Summer Sale is Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The one day event will include up to 50 percent off retiring tile images, vases, art tiles, trims and borders, field tile blends, floor and wall tiles, holiday ornaments and more. All items are sold as is, and sales are final. Customers are asked to bring their own packing materials.
