I remember living in Dublin, OH and going to our local Graeter’s ice cream shop for a special treat. I remember the soft, creamy ice cream as if it was yesterday and I remember it tasting rich and fresh. I didn’t realize that Graeter’s made in Cincinnati, OH.
I was recently contacted by a representative of Graeter’s asking if I would be interested in sampling their ice cream because it was going to now be carried in Kroger stores! I gladly said yes, since I have such fond memories of the ice cream, and was sent 6 pints of their best selling flavors, Vanilla, Butter Pecan, Mocha Chocolate Chip, Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Mint Chocolate Chip. If I had to choose a favorite, I could not. Each flavor is awesome and even though I normally go for Mint Chocolate Chip or Mocha when I eat ice cream, I was surprised how much I liked them all.
Their secret recipe includes fresh cream and egg custard spun in a French Pot freezer which creates the dense and creamy consistency. As Oprah said, “this is the best ice cream you’ll ever taste.”
One thing that really stood out to me when looking at the ingredients was:
- NO high fructose corn syrup
- NO food dyes
Those two things are so important to me when making a purchase decision, that I have now found a new ice cream brand to purchase for my family.
I was sent the Graeter’s ice cream to try. I was already a big fan of Graeter’s ice cream and have shared my honest opinion with you.
