There was a lot of hugging going on during the #140 conference in Detroit…it seemed to be the theme of the day and appropriate since Twitter is a way to build relationships and foster them in “real life”.
I had just gotten back from Blog World Expo in Las Vegas where I met some amazing people and made some great contacts. There was something special going on at the Filmore in downtown Detroit that was even more powerful than Blog World Expo. There were passionate people that are passionate about Detroit. The energy in that room was amazing and I didn’t want to miss a moment of it.
I already knew Detroit was a magical gem because for me, moving here 2 years ago was one of the best decisions I ever made. Life hasn’t been better and I have the people to thank.
Team Detroit ( Henry Balanon, David Murray and Brandon Chesnutt) and three of the coolest most supportive guys I know. They are so passionate about life, succeeding and Detroit. Love those guys!
Chris Barger and Jeff Pulver rocked the stage together! You could see the passion for Detroit in every hug they gave the speakers.
One of my bestest friends in the Detroit area and beyond is Melissa Brodsky from Rock and Drool! She and I met on Twitter last year before BlogHer 2010 and decided to take a road trip together to Chicago. Can you believe two people would do that before ever meeting each other in real life?? Best decision I ever made!
Katherine and John Hammond are one of the coolest, sweetest sets of people I’ve met in Detroit! John has started making a documentary about the bloggers of Detroit that will be on PBS and asked me to be in it! How cool is that!
All in all the #140conf was totally worth going. I met amazing people, heard amazing stories and learned about amazing things that Detroit is doing to make a change in and around the city. I LOVE being a part of this community!
