Fun FREE Event at New Paradise Peninsula Playscape

WHAT:

Oakland County Parks and Recreation extends an open invitation to the Grand Opening celebration of the new universally-accessible Paradise Peninsula Playscape at Waterford Oaks County Park, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on July 7.

The free fun day for all ages includes inflatable bouncers; climbing tower; puppet show; face painting; live music; a hot dog picnic lunch; and ribbon cutting ceremony. Oakie the Squirrel, the Oakland County Parks and Recreation mascot, will also be available throughout the event for photo opportunities and fun.

The playscape features rock, water and fossil characteristics indicative of the Great Lakes State and meets Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, addressing issues of accessibility and promoting inclusive play.

WHERE:

Parking is available at Waterford Mott High School, located at 1151 Scott Lake Road in Waterford. A free shuttle service will transport guests to the playscape. Accessible parking is available adjacent to the Paradise Peninsula Playscape.

Paradise Peninsula Playscape is located in Waterford Oaks County Park at 1702 Scott Lake Road in Waterford.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The Paradise Peninsula Playscape is now open 8 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. through Sept. 15. Hours will be adjusted seasonally. Portable restrooms are available year round.
