My oldest daughter’s first day of school is this week and not only is it her first day of school this calendar year, but it is her first day of Kindergarten.
Being her educational beginning, I am extremely happy for her, but I have to admit that I am also sad because she is my first born and she is growing up so fast and I will no longer be able to protect her in the confinements of our home.
She is on her way through this journey we call Life and even though I would love to, I cannot hold her back from growing up and experiencing all that life has to offer her.
There is only so much a parent can do to prepare their children for school besides teaching them about strangers, manners and personal growth.
One thing we can do is let them grow as individuals by letting them choose their own backpacks and other school supplies, so that they can blossom into their own individual characters.
My daughter chose a backpack with Miranda Cosgrove from the hit Nickelodeon show iCarley on it. My daughter has become a huge fan of the TV show iCarley which I let her watch in my presence because she is only 5 years old and the show is geared to the Tween set, but I do love the creativity that the characters possess and have always encouraged my daughter to be inventive and creative and to go for her dreams. Thus, I let her watch iCarley and let her promote the character on her backpack as she wishes.
One way we made her backpack stand out from the rest of the iCarley backpacks that will be on the backs of the other elementary students is we attached a PakNak butterfly to the backpack. It was the perfect touch to not only make the backpack different, but also make it stand out!
We did the same to her younger sister’s Minny Mouse backpack with a robot PakNak stick-on.
The PakNak charms are really neat. They are soft, rubbery 3D decorations that can personalize backpacks, lunchbags, headbands, computer bags or whatever else you’d like to add a personal touch to. And, they are interchangeable because they are attached by velcro so say you attached one to a headband, you could have a few different PakNaks that you could change on the headband to go with different outfits!
PakNaks make great party favors, stocking stuffers, back to school treats, Easter basket fillers, good grade treats and so much more!
The video below shows the PakNaks in motion…enjoy!
