~ Friday, August 14 – Sunday, August 16 – The African World Festival is a FREE family-oriented festival that celebrates African culture through music, art and more at Hart Plaza from noon-11:30 p.m. each day. With more than a million attendees annually, it’s Detroit’s largest ethnic celebration! Check out live music, food, vendors selling wares and ethnic goods from around the world, kids’ crafts, games and physical fitness. A shuttle travels continuously from the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
~ Saturday, August 15 – In a joint venture with the African World Festival, the 2009 International Caribbean Festival and Parade will be staged from Woodward and Mack to Hart Plaza beginning at 11:00 a.m.
